He then brags that when a Titan's fully grown they are more powerful than anyone, and the heart in Belos' castle possesses such power, which piques Belos' interest. So, he convinces the Collector to play with the trio in person, which he agrees to. He confronts Luz, Eda, and King, and challenges them to several games. But after constantly getting beaten by the trio, the Collector eventually breaks down, revealing his loneliness and past betrayals.

Taken aback by the fight, the Collector loses grip of the light particle in his hand, and it floats away. It then occurs to him what Luz meant earlier about death and realizes she is gone. On the ground, an eldritch forest of mold and decay has spread across the isles. Luz, Eda, King, and the Collector fly above and see it's originating from Belos' castle, which has been consumed by the mold. The castle then reconstructs into a monstrous dragon-like avatar of Belos, who proclaims he will cleanse the Boiling Isles once and for all and unleashes blue fire across the land.

After repeatedly losing, the Collector confides that he was unwittingly used as bait to commit genocide against the Titans, and resultantly imprisoned by King's father. The three realize the childlike Collector does not comprehend death or empathy. They resolve to teach him friendship by taking him to sites of their past adventures. Meanwhile, Luz’s friends Amity, Gus, Willow and Hunter find themselves at the Archive House and see that the Collector has turned Camilla into a puppet. As the sun comes out, the magic of the Titan leaves Luz and flies away to the stars, reverting her to regular form. Luz, Eda, and King embrace each other and lie down on the grass, relieved that it is finally over.

Eda remarks this will not stop her from saving her family, when at that moment, Lilith and Gwendolyn reveal themselves from the shadows. Relieved, Eda asks for their help to find King; however, the two send Coven Scouts to surround Eda and tell her that she will be kept locked away for how dangerous she is. Horrified, Eda asks why they're doing this; just then, Dell emerges from the balcony, his right eye bleeding and injured as he asks Eda why she would hurt him after he forgave her, which terrifies Eda. Nothing bad happened here, your reaction was natural for someone who didn’t get the joke.

Raine musters enough strength to whistle a wave of bard magic that ejects Belos entirely. In the time Raine takes to recover, Belos escapes into the castle. Realizing what Belos plans to do, Raine follows him in and reaches the throne room armed with a violin. Belos' voice then echoes in the room asking Raine what the heart really is; subsequently, Belos emerges from the cracks on the ground and envelopes Raine in sludge as Belos' main body crawls to the heart. Right as Belos lunges at it, Raine breaks free from the slime and smashes their violin to cast a magic shield around the heart, but it is too late—a small fragment of Belos makes contact.
Their video is titled “Watching and Dreaming ULTIMATE breakdown! ” There are SO MANY things in this video that I couldn’t notice, either because of my blindness directly or because the audio description doesn’t/or couldn’t mention it due to time constraints. It truly is amazing how much they managed to fit into the epilogue. I do wish there could have been more voice acting and more time spent on the ending, but, as with most issues with the third season, this is not the fault of the creators but of Disney cutting the time the show had.

The rest float across the Boiling Isles, including one that drifts by the students trapped at Hexside, and another to the Archive House where the kids are; sensing this, the puppet of Camila produces tears from its eyes. The Collector promised to try his best, but realized he had a lot of growing up to do. Everyone got their happy endings, but Luz discovers the glyphs no longer work due to the Titan giving up all his energy. As one last surprise, King reveals the Collector was in the area and wanted to do something special for Luz. King brings Luz to the edge of the cliff, where across the sky a light show of shooting stars appears, for Luz and her friends to watch. As they watch the spectacle, Luz expresses a heartfelt thanks to Eda and King for their support during these years. As the light show nears its end and the Collector is about to leave, Luz and the rest of the party all shout a final farewell towards the sky and the viewer.

Filled with rage and despair, Eda and King unleash their inner demons and attack Belos. The Collector is left confused and frightened, finally understanding the concept of death. In the ruins of the castle, Raine, Eda, and King pop out from the ash unharmed. Nearby, Luz looks on as the remnants of Belos' sludge slowly reconstruct into the form of Philip Wittebane, as he was when he first met Luz. In a last-ditch attempt at deception, "Philip" expresses gratitude, claiming that he was afflicted by a horrible curse from dark magic, attributing his actions to its influence warping his sense of right and wrong. Nonetheless, "Philip" insists that all he wants now is to make peace with her.
Right then, Luz, and the audience, realize something; with The Titan dead, the glyphs no longer work. As Luz says, a chapter of her life has just ended, but another was just beginning. Luz's spirit finds herself sinking into a dark void, but is rescued by the Titan, King's father. The Titan explains that she is only partially dead and warns her that sinking into the void will result in her permanent death. The place they are standing in, is the space in-between, where the Titan has been trapped for quite some time. But thanks to the cubes, he has been able to keep an eye on his son and those who have been kind to him.
We then return to the fight, where King is trying to harm Belos with his Sonic Shout but is caught by Eda when Belo’s blasts at him once again. They retreat slightly, and though they want to continue fighting, The Collector steps in front of them, begging them both to stop. They cry that they don’t want anyone to go away or go missing.
She then pursues Luz, who, not wanting to fight her girlfriend, flees. On April 9th, 2023, “Watching and Dreaming” premiered, concluding the series. I’m sure we all wish it could have lasted longer, and I’m sure there are things we all wish could have been done if there was more time. However, I’m sure also that many, if not all of us, can agree that, despite the limitations Disney placed on the Owl House crew, this was a wonderful finale. The pacing was great, the animation beautiful, and the story and its conclusion were so satisfying.
Amity and the rest of Luz’s friends are shell-shocked in the moments before they rally. Most heartbreakingly, Luz’s mother Camila — who is still trapped in a frozen puppet form — sheds a tear. The epilogue starts immediately after Belos dies, and The Titan’s magic leaves Luz’s body, with the main trio lying together on the grass, Luz in between them. Finally, we find out what King’s dad whispered to Luz; “I loaf you.” A bread pun!
The Collector places the Archive House safely on the Titan's head before collapsing. Amity walks up to him, and the Collector flinches at first, scared of her reaction, but then sees Amity extending her hand to help him out, which he tearfully grabs. Running outside, the group sees Belos' corruption disintegrating to ash and blowing across the isles, with the Hexside students also witnessing this. Outside, Belos crash-lands at the entrance to his castle, Raine continuing to struggle against him.
When the video goes live, it will be pinned at the top of the subreddit and a link will be provided in the comments below. And that just makes Luz’s eventual comeback even more satisfying. It feels earned, especially with the heart-to-heart she has in the “Space In Between” with the original Titan himself.
